Aimed to empower young women ages 13-19, GemPower is a new programme taking place in Islington. Following the success of the Girl Power nights, GemPower is guided by the principal aim of offering an interactive space where young women can talk about significant issues and learn valuable skills.

Weekly sessions follow a dynamic six week curriculum addressing real life topics such as self-defence, fashion and personal style, sexual health, relationships, body image and money management. Dynamic, interactive activities and talented professional facilitators cultivate an engaging and stimulating environment where participants can learn and explore comfortably and with confidence.

As stated by organiser Noori Bibi, “We hope young women will leave this project with a sense of direction in their lives sparked from their own self-belief and motivation to succeed.”

Having commenced on the 13th, the next five weeks are guaranteed to be full of energy, learning and fun for all involved. Sessions take place every Wednesday evening from 5-8pm at the City and Islington College Centre for Applied Sciences. Transport service can be provided for girls needing to be dropped off at home.
