Reem is a project manager at Maslaha. She holds an MSc from the University of Edinburgh in Middle Eastern Diasporas and a BA from the University of Warwick in English and French.

Reem has previously worked on the Young Muslim Writers Awards, a project run by Muslim Hands to encourage and give a platform for children and young people to read and write. She has also worked in the past at the Poetry Translation Centre, a charity that seeks to translate, publish and promote writers from Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Reem has worked extensively on tackling systemic issues facing migrants in the UK with SOAS Detainee Support, a group that supports people held in the UK’s immigration detention system. Her work at the Institute of Race Relations, an educational anti-racism charity, focused primarily on state violence toward migrants in the UK and Europe, and discrimination facing Muslim communities in France and the UK. There, Reem researched, wrote and published reports and briefing papers on these subjects.
