Maslaha is an Islamic social justice concept that demands we find ways of living together that are built on safety and welfare and not harm.
Maslaha translates from Arabic as for the common good. We work in shared struggle with Muslim communities and we believe that the tools for liberation lie within our communities. It’s about finding practical solutions to current challenges, while also learning from past struggles.

Our work is rooted in practical change, critical learning and public imagination and operates at a local and systemic level.
We also understand through our work that the systems of harm we face are similar to conditions faced by other communities and therefore our struggle is a common one built on solidarity.
Maslaha produces award-winning and groundbreaking resources, driven by our ability to engage with communities, service providers, and decision makers alike.

About Muslim Girls Fence
“You might think a fencer wouldn’t look like me, but I am a fencer. When I’m fencing, I feel powerful, I feel strong, I feel sisterhood and I feel free.”
